Pleasure is a journey, not a destination

Reflections on day 53/90 days of Pleasure

Pleasure, like orgasms is a journey and not a destination. As I traverse this 90 days of pleasure, I’m finding myself coming up against wanting to check off the box of completing my daily pleasure practice when time feels crunched rather than leaning into what my body desires to feel good.

I was listening to Barbara Carrellas’ book Urban Tantra on a country drive recently and it struck me how beautiful it is that there are so many ways to feel joy in the body. When we think about the body as energy centers and pleasure as a way to expand and move energy in the body, our ability to achieve or feel pleasure is exponential.

I love how Barbara talks about energetic orgasms. We can feel the same level of ecstasy through laughter or breath or any number of other ways to feel pleasure and joy in the body. Breathgasms, gigglegasms, teargasms, so many ways to feel in the body and the beauty of these types of pleasure is that they are not dependent on parts, they are tenderness expressions of joy. This is particularly helpful for humans experiencing trauma or gender dismorphia.
