Sonic embodiment as a pleasure practice
Reflections on my 43rd day of 90 days of Pleasure
I first heard the phrase sonic embodiment used in a workshop I attended last Fall and it really resonated with me. What it means to me is using sound as a way to connect to the body. It can be sound that’s generated from within or felt from an external source.
Since then I have been in deep pleasure research with incorporating sound into various pleasure practices. I find myself gravitating towards it more frequently these days, noticing what sounds I’m feeling called to make and how my body responds to them.
When I’m excited it’s a way to express and feel that excitement and release little pressure/pleasure bubbles. When I’m feeling unmoored it’s a way to ground my energy. When I feel stagnation, it’s a way to move the energy. When I’m practicing breathwork it’s a way to feel my exhales more deeply.
It’s a modality that I’m really enjoying and can’t wait to play with more in the next round of Pleasure Playground.
