The Microcosmic Orbit AKA pleasure homework

This fall I will be diving back into another Tantra practitioner training, this time with Barbara Carrellas. One of our homework assignments is to read her book Urban Tantra. This book was my bible during the pandemic. I’ve practiced many of the tools with self, in partnership, and in my group programs.

It feels different going back through the book as I open myself up to being a practitioner that practices hands on 1:1 work. I’m reminded of this quote from Dangerous Beauty "First secret of all great courtesans: You must know pleasure, to give pleasure".

I love learning and especially love pleasure research so this Courtesan is rolling up her sleeves and diving in deep. Today I practiced the Microcosmic orbit. It’s a beautiful simple practice using breath and PC squeezes to wrap yourself in a cocoon of erotic energy.

It was a little like rubbing your belly and tapping your head at first, it took some time to get into the simple rhythm of breath and squeezes. I found myself rocking my hips gently to get into the flow.

The dizzying effects of this practice left me a little breathless. I found myself having to stop and start because it became overwhelming at parts. Overall I’m much more drawn to the Energygasm which intentionally uses hip movements with the breath and squeezes but I overall enjoy a practice that is simple and uses breath as a tool to move energy through the body. A beautiful tool to wake up my body.
